CSIR SO ASO Selection Process 2024
CSIR SO ASO Selection Process 2024 for Section Officer (SO) and Assistant Section Officer (ASO) will be after qualifying the given phases of the recruitment process: Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3. Aspirants who qualify for Stage 1 will be called for Stage 2 and those acquiring the minimum threshold marks in Stage 2 will be able to appear for Stage 3. The given section comprises the detailed CSIR SO ASO Exam Pattern 2024.

The salient features of CSIR Exam Pattern 2024 for SO are as follows:
- The Stage 1 consists of two papers: Paper I and Paper II.
- There are 2 sections in Paper I: General Awareness and English Language & Comprehension.
- From General Awareness 100 objective questions will be asked for a maximum of 100 marks and from English Language & Comprehension 50 questions for a maximum of 50 marks. To solve these questions 02 Hours(120 Minutes) time will be allotted.
- Paper II has a single section of General Intelligence, Reasoning and Mental Ability. In this section, aspirants will have to attempt 200 objective questions for a maximum of 200 marks in a time duration of 02:30 Hours(150 Minutes).
- There is negative marking for Paper I & Paper II and 0.33 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- The CSIR SO Stage 2 Syllabus comprises Paper III, a section of English/Hindi. The nature of the paper will be descriptive for a maximum of 150 Marks in a time limit of 02 Hours(120 Minutes).
- For Section Officer, Stage 3 is Interview carrying a total of 100 marks, fresh casino.
- Candidates who obtain the minimum threshold marks in Stage 1(Paper I and Paper II)out of 350 marks will be called for Stage 2(Paper III).
- Aspirants who secure the cut off marks in Paper I, Paper II, and Paper III out of total 500 marks will be called for Stage 3(Interview).

CSIR ASO Exam Pattern 2024
The CSIR Exam Pattern 2024 for ASO includes the following stages.
Stage 1:
- Two papers, Paper I and Paper II.
- Paper I has two sections: General Awareness and English Language & Comprehension.
- General Awareness has 100 objective questions for a maximum of 100 marks.
- English Language & Comprehension has 50 questions for a maximum of 50 marks.
- Duration for Paper I is 120 minutes.
- Paper II consists of a single section: General Intelligence, Reasoning, and Mental Ability.
- Aspirants need to answer 200 objective questions for a maximum of 200 marks.
- Duration for Paper II is 150 minutes.
- Negative marking for both papers with a deduction of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer.
Stage 2:
- Paper III, a descriptive section in English/Hindi.
- Maximum marks for Paper III is 150, and the time allotted is 120 minutes.
Stage 3:
- For Section Officer, Stage 3 involves Computer Proficiency Test with a total of 100 marks.
Selection Process:
- Candidates meeting the minimum threshold marks in Stage 1 (Paper I and Paper II) out of 350 marks proceed to Stage 2 (Paper III) and Computer Proficiency Test(CPT).
- CPT is Qualifying in nature and marks obtained will not be counted for final marks.
