I have done my BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from Biju Pattnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha in 2016. Though I was placed in three different IT firms namely Wipro, Mphasis and Capgemini, I decided not to join so as to pursue my career in banking sector by following the footsteps of my father. From 2016, I began my preparation for various competitive examinations, which began with SBI PO 2016. Even for this, I deactivated my Facebook account and WhatsApp profile also.
In 2016, I failed to qualify in all the exams, even the prelims. At one point, I regretted my decision for joining the IT sector. But it was my mother, who kept motivating me not to give up and keep going ahead with upcoming exams.
In 2017, suddenly things started to change. The first ever Banking written exam that I cleared was South Indian Bank PO, but I failed to clear the Interview Session. I didn’t give up and moved ahead with my preparation. Slowly, one by one, I began to clear the written exam of exams- ICICI Bank PO, UIIC Ltd Assistant, SSC CGL Tier 1, Federal Bank PO, GIC-Re AM, IBPS PO (Prelims and Mains) and IBPS Clerk (Prelims). But, again I failed to get into the final selection. Seeing such failures and taunts from my relatives, I went into a state of depression. Even I kept myself isolated from the entire world. The situation as so severe for me that even I stopped going to daily morning walk so that no one would ask me whether I got selected in any.
Then came 2018, I came across your YouTube channel Adda247, where I received some sort of motivation from the teachers apart from my mother. I decided to carry forward with my preparation, without being destabilized. I cleared South Indian Bank PO, SBI PO(Prelims and Mains), SBI Clerk, IBPS PO prelims. Same thing happened in 2018, where I couldn’t get into the final selection list.
Then came 2019, with new hope, I appeared so as to prove myself what I am. After a lot of taunts and hard efforts, first small news came from ICICI Bank, where I was finally selected for it’s PO Program. This gave me a booster dose to nail other exams.
In IBPS RRB PO,
In Prelims, I secured 40 out of 40 in the Reasoning and 27.5 in Quant.
In Mains, I secured 126.56 in Odisha state with 80.10 as Cutoff in general category.
My interview was held on 22 November at Odisha Gramya Bank HQ in Bhubaneswar. There I was asked the following questions
1. What’s your caste?
2. What is the significance of your name?
3. About my schooling
4. My father’s occupation
5. What do you know about Priority Sector Lending?
6. Can an individual avail a vehicle loan under PSL?
7. Does Transport sector come under PSL?
8. How many Public Sector Banks are currently functioning in India? How many Public Sector Banks would exist after the merger process is completed in 2020?
9. How many RRBs are there in Odisha? Name them, their HQs and their Chairpersons.
10. What do you know about NABARD?
11. How does NABARD get it’s funding?
12. What do you mean by the concept of ‘Smart City’? How is it different from the facilities available in Rural areas?
13. As an individual, how can you contribute to the success of the Smart City project?
Though the interview was good, still I kept my fingers crossed. When the marks of the Mains were released, it was a large margin from the cutoff. Many of my friends said that I will make it this time but I wasn’t sure.
Then came the day that I was waiting for. January 1,2020. The moment the link to check the provisional allotment of IBPS RRB PO 2019 became active, I was sweating in anxiety. What will happen?? My mother who was with me, said not to worry and be ready to accept the reality.
After logging in the credentials, I just checked it, I couldn’t believe that I made it this time. The fear at that moment turned into joy and happiness. That day, I had a sound sleep.
Following this, I got selected in ESIC UDC, followed by a l IDBI Bank PGDBF.
Recently I have qualified the prelims exam of FCI Manager Grade-II 2019, I am working hard for the mains.
