Later, on 30 July 1949, this day got immense popularity when it was highlighted over radio, movies, articles, etc. In 1951, a United Nations Social Welfare delegate, V. M. Kulkarni, thought about the underprivileged kids and recommended to celebrate Pandit Nehru’s Birth date as Flag Day. In 1954, Nehru’s Birthday was officially designated as “Children’s Day”. In 1957, 14 November was effectively declared as Children’s Day in India.
