Quantitative Aptitude Section has always been giving heebie-jeebies to the students, many of them are bundle of nerves while attempting this particular section. Well, this is a fact that this section is a bit time-consuming and difficult in general. But if we talk about Quantitative Aptitude Section of IBPS PO Prelims 2017, the case was completely different. Students who appeared for the exam told that this section was quite easier when compared to other sections. Changed pattern of the number of questions on inequalities, number series and approximation, and increased number of questions from the arithmetic section made this year’s pattern different from that of last year’s. And students, you can’t ignore the fact that this very section can prove to be very scoring as well. The only way to ace the scores in the section is strenuous practice.
The trick to ace Quantitative Aptitude test is to attempt the questions on Quadratic Equations, Simplification and Approximation first and then you can go for Number Series. The total number of questions on these topics will be 11 (6+5). After having attempted all these questions efficiently, go for Data Interpretation. As per the Examination held on 7th and 8th of October, the total number of questions on DI will be 12. Also, the number of questions on topics from Arithmetic section like CI & SI, Time and Work, Pipes and Cisterns, Partnership, etc. too has increased from the usual number 10 to a new number 12 this year whereas difficulty level remained the same as previous year’s. Attempt the questions on Arithmetic portion in the end.
The sectional cut off for Quantitative Aptitude Section in 2015 and 2016 were 7.75 and 8.25 respectively. The average time to be spent on this section should be 25 minutes. Practice continuously, it will pay big time.
