CBI ZBO Eligibility Criteria
The Central Bank of India has outlined the recruitment profile for the Zone-Based Officer (ZBO) role, including the necessary qualifications, experience, and responsibilities. All educational qualifications must be from universities recognized by the Government of India or approved by relevant government regulatory bodies. Additionally, candidates should have the required experience, if applicable, for the specific post they are applying for.
Age Limit
The age limit for the Central Bank of India Zone-Based Officer (ZBO) recruitment is set as follows: Candidates must be at least 21 years old and no older than 32 years as of 30 November 2024. This means that candidates should have been born not later than 30 November 2003 and not earlier than 1 December 1992, with both dates inclusive.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. This includes Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) courses. Candidates with qualifications in fields like Medicine, Engineering, Chartered Accountancy, or Cost Accountancy are also eligible.
Experience
For candidates from Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs), Scheduled Cooperative Banks (Urban & State), and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) with assets of at least Rs. 500 crores:
- Officer/Supervisory cadre: Minimum 1 year of experience.
- Clerical cadre: Minimum 3 years of experience.
- Only experience in the officer/supervisory role in NBFCs will be considered. Clerical experience in NBFCs will not be accepted.
Candidates from the Insurance sector, Co-operative Societies, or Government Financial Institutions (either regular or part-time) are not eligible.
Additional Requirement: Candidates must have a clean track record and should not have been terminated from a Bank/Financial Institution due to disciplinary action or major punishment.
Responsibilities
- Selected candidates will not be eligible for transfer between zones until they are promoted to MMGS-III Grade, unless there is a case of fraud or misbehavior during their service.
- If promoted to Scale IV or higher, candidates may be posted anywhere in the country.
- Candidates will not be eligible for foreign posting or deputation to other organizations until they are promoted to MMGS-III Grade or complete 10 years of service, whichever comes first unless there is a case of fraud or misbehavior during their service.
Nationality/Citizenship
A candidate must be:
- A Citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962 with the intention to settle permanently, or
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or certain East African countries with the intention to settle in India.

CBI ZBO 2025 Salary
The Zone-Based Officer selected by the Central Bank of India will receive the salary on the given scale of pay, 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920. The appointed candidates will have to execute a bond of Rs. 3 Lakh for 3 years from the date of joining the bank.
