“All Limitations Are Self Imposed” Says Rakhi Saraf | IBPS RRB PO – 07

"All Limitations Are Self Imposed" Says Rakhi Saraf | IBPS RRB PO – 07 |_2.1

Hello Everyone,

First of all I would like to thank Bankersadda for publishing this success story. As a beginner, I always used to read success stories of other students and had a dream of writing one of my own. And today finally that day has arrived.

Name – Rakhi Saraf

Educational Qualification – BCA

Category – General

Exams in which I appeared and got selected in:
  • SBI Junior Associate 2018: Shortlisted as Junior Associate.
  • Bank of Baroda PO PGDBF 2018: Got selected in the written examination and was shortlisted for the GD-PI Phase. Missed final list by 0.09
  • IBPS RRB PO 2018: Got allotment in Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya Gramin Bank.

So, I would like to share my journey of success with all of you. After completing graduation in 2016, I started preparing for bank jobs in January 2017. Meanwhile I also joined a coaching institute but it was not as good as I expected. So I started preparing on my own and started filling all the forms to have a real glimpse of the examination and have a taste of the pressure that is created in the examination hall. I was scoring decent in these exams. Meanwhile, I also appeared for SBI PO prelims 2017 with just 3 months of preparation and scored a whooping 46.75 marks and it motivated me (cutoff – 51).
After this was IBPS RRB PO Pre 2017 and I was able to qualify that but couldn’t clear Mains. But I did learn something: that Pre and Mains Exams have a huge difference in the Level and Pattern. It is then that I started preparing for Mains in an appropriate way.
Remember “Failure is First step towards Success”

Journey of 2018:
In 2018 my real journey of bank preparations started and this was a whole new experience for me.

Exams that I have appeared for in 2018:
  • Syndicate Bank PO PGDBF 2018: Score 100.75 (Cutoff 109.50)
  • Canara Bank PO PGDBF 2018: Could not clear
  • SBI PO: Could not clear Mains
  • SBI JA : Selected YAY!
  • Bank of Baroda PO PGDBF 2018: Got through the written examination and was shortlisted for the GD-PI. Couldn’t make it to the final list. Missed final list by 0.09 marks.
  • IBPS RRB PO: Qualified Prelims and Mains. Got allotment in Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya Gramin Bank.
  • IBPS PO: Could not clear Mains
  • Canara Bank PO PGDBF: Result Awaited!

How did I prepare for the bank exams?
I was preparing only for bank exams so had no pressure of engaging into huge number of subjects. Reasoning is my strongest part and quant probably the weakest among all. So I invested more time in strengthening my strong subject even more and for quant I started following Adda247. (Trust me it’s worth it, even if you go through all their free videos available on Youtube).
In the beginning, I used the books of Ace Mathematics and Ace Reasoning to clear the basics and then I started taking mocks once the basics was clear. As a beginner I used to score below average but then practice is something that makes a man perfect and if not perfect then atleast better. So don’t be demotivated if you’re in that phase because slowly you’ll improve. Just have some faith in yourself. Mocks of Bankersadda are more than enough for both Prelims and Mains(I have tried OB/PM as well but found the above mentioned best suited for me).
For Banking, go through any magazine and alongwith this keep yourself updated with the latest bank related news. For English, reading and practice is only the way out. For Current affairs, I used to go through the monthly capsule of Bankersadda. Always remember one thing that this is not the end, there are many more examinations to come, even if you fail in some gear up for another one, success will eventually knock your door.

Success Credits:
Two people who are my strength, my true friends and my world. My PARENTS!
They have been very supportive throughout my journey of struggle, failures and success. 🙂
Best Wishes!

Thanks Rakhi for sharing your Success Story with us. Adda247 wishes you a good luck for the bright future ahead.
