1. Tamil Nadu CM inaugurated SIPCOT industrial park

• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has inaugurated an industrial park at Eraiyur in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district. He also laid the foundation stone for the Phoenix Kothari Footwear Park.
• The inauguration of the 243.39-acre park of the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Sipcot) followed an announcement in the 2022-23 budget session that new parks would be set up in Coimbatore, Perambalur, Madurai, Vellore and Tiruvallur districts.

2. Senior journalist Ravish Kumar resigns from NDTV following Adani acquisition

• A senior journalist, Ravish Kumar has resigned from NDTV according to news sources. This comes just a day after the channel’s founders and promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy resigned from their positions as directors on the board of RRPR Holding Private Limited (RRPRH).
• The senior jounalists resignation come after the news channel was acquired by the Adani Group, and holds 29.18% stake in the news channel.
• Kumar, a winner of the Ramon Magsaysay award, used to host a number of programs including the channel’s flagship weekday show Hum Log, Ravish ki Report, Des Ki Baat, and Prime Time. He has also been conferred with the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award twice.

3. BIS signed MoU with top six Engineering Institutes of India

• The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the top six engineering institutes of India for introducing Indian standards as an integral part of the curriculum. This initiative is towards institutionalizing engagement of BIS with eminent institutes to secure active participation of academia.
• The MoU was signed with the Indian Institute of Technology BHU, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and National Institute of Technology Trichy on 28 November 2022.
• The establishment will promote excellence and leadership in teaching and research & development in the field of science and various disciplines in the respective institutes.
• During the signing, Shri Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director General, BIS informed that the MoU between the premium academic institutes & BIS would strengthen and enhance the standards formulation activity by facilitating Research & Development projects.

4. NDTV Promoter Firm RRPR Holding Transfers 99.5% Shares to Adani’s VCPL

• News Broadcaster New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) promoter firm RRPR Holding announced that it has transferred shares constituting 99.5 percent of its equity capital to Adani group-owned Vishvapradhan Commercial (VCPL). The transfer of shares will give Adani Group control over a 29.18 percent stake in NDTV. They are also open to offer for another 26 percent stake in the media film.
• Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group has said that the NDTV purchase was a responsibility rather than a business opportunity.
• NDTV had said that VCPL has served notice on the broadcast based on a loan agreement it had entered into with its founders in 2009-2010.

5. SBI Plans to Issue Infrastructure Bonds of Rs 10,000 Crore in 2022-23

• State Bank of India plans to raise Rs 10,000 crore worth of infrastructure bonds during the current financial year. SBI confirmed the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central Board of State Bank of India to seek approval for raising infrastructure bonds to Rs 10,000 crore through public issues or private placement.
• The planned insurance worth Rs 10,000 crore includes a greenshoe option of Rs 5,000 crore.
• The infrastructure bonds are likely to be of 10 years tenure according to the plans.
• Infrastructure bonds typically have an edge in such a scenario as the money raised through the issuance of these bonds will be excluded while maintaining a cash reserve ratio (CRR).

6. YES Bank Acquired 9.9 per cent stake in JC Flower ARC

• Yes Bank has signed a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with JC Flowers Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC), acquiring a 9.9 percent stake in the ARC at Rs 11.43 per share on 28th November 2022. A subsequent acquisition of the additional shareholding of 10 percent is subject to requisite regulatory approvals.
• Yes Bank’s board has approved the sale of stressed loans worth Rs 48,000 crore to JC Flowers.
• The bank intends to participate as a minority shareholder in the ARC.
• It is said that this will be ancillary to the main line of business of the bank.
• As of 31st March 2022, JC Flowers ARC had Rs 595 crore in assets under management with an annual turnover of Rs 19.9 crore.

8. Four US soldiers promoted high up on Nanda Devi during military exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’

• In a first, four US Army officers part of the 11th Airborne Division were promoted high up on Nanda Devi, India’s second-highest Himalayan peak, during the 18th edition of India-US joint military exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ in Uttarakhand.
• Capt. Cerruti, Lt. Russell, Lt. Brown and Lt. Hack became the first four USArmy Officers to be promoted in the Himalayas during Yudh Abhyas Exercise. US soldiers of 2nd Brigade of the 11th Airborne Division and Indian Army soldiers from the Assam Regiment are part of the two-week joint military exercise.

• South Korea’s Mina Sue Choi was crowned Miss Earth 2022 during the pageant’s coronation night on November 29 at Cove Manila, Okada Hotel, Parañaque City. There were 86 Eco-warriors, and only three queens were awarded the pageant’s three elements titles.
• Miss Fire 2022 is Andrea Aguilera of Columbia, Miss Water 2022 is Nadeen Ayoub of Palestine, and Miss Air 2022 is Sheridan Mortlock of Australia. During the pre-pageant activities, Choi bagged a few medals too. She won resort wear, long gown, beach wear, and swimsuit competition.
• This is the 22nd edition of the annual international competition organized by Carousel Production to promote environmental protection. It also sought ambassadors to mount projects that help save the planet.

10. Union Minister R.K Singh inaugurated ‘Doctor Apke Dwar’ Mobile Health Clinics

• Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh inaugurated REC’s CSR initiative for procurement, operation and maintenance of 10 Mobile Health Clinics (MHC) ‘Doctor Apke Dwar’ at Sadar Hospital, Aarah, Bhojpur District Bihar.
• The project aims to facilitate operational expenditure for three years for smooth functioning. The total cost of the project is Rs. 12.68 crore.
• 10 Mobile Health Clinics (MHC) aims to provide door-step primary health care service to the underprivileged population across all 14 blocks of the Bhojpur district in Bihar.

11. India’s 100 Richest 2022: Gautam Adani tops Forbes rich list

• The world economy may be slowing but India’s richest have grown even richer this year. The Forbes 2022 list of India’s 100 richest is finally here, according to which, the combined wealth of India’s 100 richest grew by $25 billion to touch a colossal $800 billion.
• The top 10 richest Indians are worth a cumulative $385 billion. Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has bagged the top spot on the list with a net worth of $150 billion. According to Forbes, the gain was largely due to a record-breaking feat by infrastructure tycoon, which changed the pecking order at the top for the first time since 2008.

12. FIFA World cup 2022: Stephanie Frappart to be 1st woman referee

• FIFA has announced that Stephanie Frappart of France will be the first woman to referee a men’s’ World Cup match. She will officiate the match to be played between Germany and Costa Rica in Group E on 2 December 2022.
• France’s Frappart is one of three women referees among the 36 selected for the tournament in Qatar, alongside Rwandan official Salima Mukansanga and Japan’s Yoshimi Yamashita. Three other female officials have travelled to the World Cup as assistant referees.

• Every year, on 1 December, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. People around the world unite to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS. • International Jaguar Day was created to raise awareness about the increasing threats facing the jaguar and the critical conservation efforts ensuring its survival.
• Observed annually on November 29, International Jaguar Day celebrates the Americas’ largest wild cat as an umbrella species for biodiversity conservation and an icon for sustainable development and the centuries-old cultural heritage of Central and South America. This is the third largest Cat Predator of the World and an important species of Amazon Rainforest.
• In March 2018 representatives from 14 range countries gathered in New York at United Nations’ Headquarters for the Jaguar 2030 Forum. • India celebrates the 58th BSF Raising Day (1st December) in 2022. This is for the first time that the Raising Day Parade of India’s first line of defense is being held in Punjab and the second time outside the national capital.
• The 58th Raising Day Parade of the Border Security Force (BSF) will be held on December 4 on Guru Nanak Dev University campus.

16. Former President of China Jiang Zemin Passes Away

• Jiang Zemin, former President of China who presided over more than a decade of economic growth after the 1989 Tiananmen crackdown against pro-democracy protester, passed away at the age of 96 in Shanghai, China. He died from leukemia and multiple organ failure. Jiang Zemin was born in 1926 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, China.
• After the 1989 Tiananmen crackdown, Jiang Zemin governed the Communist Party’s divisions while leading China through history-making changes.
• Market-oriented reforms were revived, Hong Kong gained independence from the British in 1997, and Beijing joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001. He helped pulling in foreign investment after China joined the WTO. Jiang Zemin served as the head of the Communist Party from 1989 to 2002.

17. “World’s 1st Hydrogen-Run” Aircraft Engine Tested by EasyJet, Rolls-Royce

• Airline EasyJet and Aircraft Engine maker Rolls-Royce announced that they have successfully tested a hydrogen-powered aircraft engine, which is described as the World’s First for aviation. They had set a new aviation milestone with the world’s first run of a modern aero engine on hydrogen in a test carried out on land earlier this month.
• The company tested a turboprop fan engine that is used a small regional flights aircraft.
• Green hydrogen for the tests had been generated using tidal and wind energy from Orkney Islands, Scotland.
• Rolls-Royce is eventually hoping to conduct a full-scale ground test of a Pearl 15 jet engine.

• India will formally take over the G-20 presidency from 1st December 2022. Several events are to take place across the country including the lighting of 100 monuments with the G-20 logo to mark the occasion.
