Happy Republic Day!! |_2.1

In India, 26th of January marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect. India became a sovereign democratic republic after the enforcement of the constitution on this day. This day, 26th of January has been declared as a national holiday by the government of India.

The chief Republic Day ceremonies are carried out in the national capital of India, i.e. New Delhi. Various awards and medals are given to the people from armed forces as well as to civilians. Helicopters from the armed forces then fly past the parade area that shower rose petals over there. The parade closes with a “fly past” by the Indian Air Force, which involves fighter planes of flying past the dais, symbolically saluting the president.
India became independent on 15th ofAugust, 1947. Even after the independence, the country did not have a sound constitution. The laws, before the enactment of the constitution, were running on the basis of Government of India Act 1935. Having realized the need for a permanent constitution, the government of India appointed a Drafting Committee on 28th of August 1947 to draft it. Dr, B. R. Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.
The committee prepared a draft constitution and submitted it to the Assembly on 4th of November 1947. Then, in a time span of almost 3 years, the Assembly would meet in sessions that were open to the public. The 308 member of the Assembly, after many consultations and a few modifications finally signed a constitution on 24th of January 1950, which came into effect on 26th of January 1950. And, that day, ever since then, is being celebrated as Republic Day in India.
“India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only!”
Mark Twain
